16-port 19-inch LCD KVM for server racks

The ATEN CL1316N combines a 19-inch LCD panel, full keyboard and touchpad in a 1U sliding housing that mounts directly in a standard rack. It lets administrators control up to 16 connected servers from a single console without leaving the rack aisle. The integrated design reduces the footprint compared with separate monitor, keyboard and KVM units. It is aimed at data-centre and server-room operators who need local, hands-on access to multiple systems.

Practical limits of PS/2 and USB combo KVM

The switch uses PS/2 and USB combo cables to link each server, so every target machine must provide compatible keyboard and mouse ports. Cable length and signal quality constrain how far the servers can sit from the console. Only one server is active at a time, so simultaneous multi-system interaction is not possible. The 16-port capacity sets a hard ceiling on the number of directly managed hosts without cascading additional switches.
