Signal conversion for VGA sources

The ATEN VC160A converts analogue VGA output to a digital DVI signal so legacy computers, KVM switches or industrial equipment can drive modern DVI monitors. It handles resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 and requires no driver installation on Windows, macOS or Linux.

Check your ports and power before ordering

Verify that the source device provides a standard VGA connector and that the display accepts DVI input. The unit draws power from the VGA port itself, but a supplementary power adapter is included for configurations where the port cannot supply enough current.

Low heat and silent operation

With no moving parts the converter runs completely silent and generates minimal warmth during continuous use. Power consumption stays very low because the device relies on the host port and the small external adapter rather than a dedicated mains supply.

Questions about this item

Does the VC160A include a power adapter or must I source one separately?

The converter draws power from the VGA port and also accepts an external adapter, so an additional supply is only needed if the source port cannot deliver enough current.

Is the 1920 x 1200 limit fixed or can the VC160A scale higher resolutions down?

The unit supports up to 1920 x 1200; signals above that resolution are not processed.

When the VC160A says 1920 x 1200, does that mean native DVI output at 60 Hz?

Yes, the converter delivers a native DVI signal at up to 1920 x 1200 at standard refresh rates for that resolution.
