Five-drive SATA/SAS backplane

The Athena Power BP-SAC3051B fits five 3.5-inch hard drives into three 5.25-inch front bays. It connects each drive through SATA I, II, III or SAS interfaces using Molex or SATA power connectors. An 80 mm fan and aluminium frame with dissipation grooves provide active cooling. A triangular lock secures the drive cages.

Suited for RAID arrays, not trayless builds

Builders configuring RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10 across five drives will use the integrated backplane. The unit requires trays, so anyone wanting a trayless swap mechanism should look elsewhere. Systems without three adjacent 5.25-inch bays cannot accommodate the module. The 10 TB aggregate limit also rules out higher-capacity arrays.

10 TB total capacity ceiling

The backplane supports a maximum of 10 TB across all five bays, expressed as five 2 TB drives. Any drive larger than 2 TB per bay exceeds the rated limit and is not supported. This capacity figure is the decisive specification for deciding whether the module matches the planned storage volume.
