Six-computer KVM switch

The AUTYUE KC-962 lets six computers share two monitors and four USB 3.0 peripherals. Each connected system must provide both an HDMI and a DisplayPort output. The switch is aimed at multi-system workstations, broadcast setups and teaching environments where a single keyboard, mouse and dual-display layout must control several PCs.

Passive cooling and external power

The unit runs without fans, so it adds no audible noise to the desk. A supplied 12 V DC adapter powers the internal switching logic and the four downstream USB 3.0 ports. Power draw scales with the number of active computers and attached USB devices, but the external brick keeps heat away from the switching circuitry.

Build integration requirements

Six host cables — HDMI, DisplayPort and USB per computer — plus two monitor cables and the power adapter must reach the switch, so cable routing space behind the desk is essential. The wired remote lets the main box sit out of sight while the selector stays within reach. Buyers whose systems lack both HDMI and DisplayPort on the same graphics card cannot use the dual-monitor modes.

Questions about this item

How do I install the KC-962 so both monitors work, and what is the step people miss?

Connect each PC with one HDMI cable, one DisplayPort cable, and one USB cable; the step often missed is ensuring both video ports come from the same discrete graphics card, otherwise extended or copy mode will not activate.

What maintenance or replacement will the KC-962 need over time?

The unit is driver-free with no user-serviceable parts; only the supplied 12 V DC adapter or the four USB 3.0 cables may need replacement if they fail, and keeping cables under two metres helps maintain 8K stability.

What limit appears first when the KC-962 runs continuously at high resolution?

DisplayPort outputs cap at 8K 30 Hz or 4K 144 Hz, while HDMI outputs cap at 8K 60 Hz or 4K 120 Hz; cable length beyond two metres degrades signal before any thermal limit is reached.
