Product and Audience

The Avantree C171 is a USB-C wired in-ear headset weighing 25 grams. It connects directly to iPhone 15 and 16 models, most Android smartphones and tablets with a USB-C port. An over-ear hook design and three eartip sizes provide a secure fit for running and sports. A built-in microphone and in-line buttons handle calls, volume, playback and voice-assistant activation without touching the phone.

Upgrade Context

This headset replaces Lightning-connector earbuds used with iPhone 11 through 14 or any 3.5 mm analogue set. The jump is worthwhile when the source device has a USB-C port and a secure, lightweight fit for active use is required. It is not for buyers who need a Lightning connector, a 3.5 mm jack, or compatibility with the Samsung S24 which the supplier notes may not work.

Capacity and Limits

The 32 ohm dynamic drivers deliver a well-balanced sound signature suited to music, podcasts and calls. Passive noise isolation from the in-ear seal reduces ambient sound during workouts. The 120 cm cable length gives enough reach for phone-in-pocket use. There is no active noise cancellation, no wireless capability and no support for devices lacking a USB-C port.

The supplier notes the C171 may not be compatible with the Samsung S24; it is designed for iPhone 15 and 16 and most other Android phones with a USB-C port.
