12MP Outdoor Dome Camera

The Avigilon 12W-H3-4MH-360 is a 12MP outdoor dome camera built for wide-area surveillance. It uses a 1/3" CMOS sensor and a varifocal 2.8-8mm lens to cover adjustable fields of view. H.264 and Motion JPEG compression reduce storage and bandwidth demands. The housing is rated for outdoor installation.

Suited for installers needing flexible coverage

This camera suits installers who need a single dome that can shift from wide overview to narrower detail by adjusting the 2.8-8mm lens. It fits in-ceiling or surface mounts and speaks ONVIF for broad VMS compatibility. Buyers who require integrated infrared illumination or a motorised zoom that can be adjusted remotely should look at other models.

Varifocal 2.8-8mm lens sets the coverage

The 2.8-8mm varifocal lens is the specification that decides whether this camera matches the scene. At 2.8mm it delivers a wide angle; at 8mm it narrows the view for greater detail at distance. The 12MP sensor records across that entire range. Choose this unit when the installation demands on-site focal-length adjustment.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the 12W-H3-4MH-360 dome and what is the step installers often miss?

Choose in-ceiling or surface mounting, then seal the gasket and cable entry with outdoor-rated silicone; skipping the seal lets moisture reach the 1/3" CMOS sensor.

What part of this 12MP camera will need replacement first and when?

The IR LEDs typically dim after several years of night operation; plan to swap the illuminator module once low-light range drops below your needs.

Which limit appears first during continuous 12MP recording on this dome?

H.264 encoder heat builds up in the sealed housing, so sustained full-resolution capture may throttle frame rate before storage fills.
