8 MP Fisheye Dome Camera

The AVI-8 H5A series dome camera captures an 8.0 megapixel image through a 1.40 mm fisheye lens. It delivers a 2048 x 2048 video stream using H.264, H.265 or MJPEG formats over a wired connection. The 1/1.8 inch CMOS sensor operates behind an f/2 aperture for wide-angle coverage.

Indoor Wide-Area Monitoring

This unit suits installations that need a single ceiling-mounted device to oversee an entire room without mechanical pan or tilt. It is not intended for applications that require optical zoom, long-range identification or multiple independent viewing angles from one housing.

1.40 mm Fixed Focal Length

The 1.40 mm focal length determines the horizontal field of view and the level of detail at distance. Verify that this fixed wide-angle perspective matches the surveillance layout before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the 8 MP fisheye dome generate when recording continuously?

The camera uses a wired connection and CMOS sensor, so it runs silently with minimal heat during continuous operation.

What network equipment is required to power and view the 2048 x 2048 H.265 stream?

A PoE switch or injector and an NVR or VMS that supports H.264, H.265 or MJPEG are needed.

Can the 1.40 mm f/2 lens work with my existing 1080p recorder?

The recorder must accept 8 MP 2048 x 2048 video over H.264, H.265 or MJPEG; older 1080p-only units cannot display the full resolution.
