Product identity

This Avigilon 6.0C-H5A-DO1-IR is a 6MP outdoor dome surveillance camera built for surface mounting. It captures colour and monochrome footage through a 4.9 to 8mm varifocal lens. The unit is supplied new and supports H.264 HDSM SmartCodec, H.265 HDSM SmartCodec and Motion JPEG compression.

Suitability

The camera suits installers who need a weather-rated dome with flexible focal length for building perimeters or loading bays. It does not suit buyers who require a factory-sealed retail package or a manufacturer-backed warranty beyond the seller's 90-day term. It is not for indoor-only deployments or recessed ceiling mounting.

Deciding specification

The 1/2 inch sensor combined with a 4.9 to 8mm focal range determines the field of view and low-light performance. Verify that this lens span covers the required scene width at your mounting distance before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What maintenance will the 1/2 inch sensor and motorised 4.9-8mm lens need after years outdoors?

The sealed outdoor dome is built for permanent surface mounting; no user-serviceable parts are inside, so only occasional lens cleaning is required.

What limit appears first during sustained recording — the H.264/H.265 SmartCodec bitrate ceiling or the 1/8196 s shutter floor?

The electronic shutter can reach 1/8196 s, so exposure control remains flexible; the practical ceiling is the SmartCodec bitrate the recorder allocates to each stream.

How much heat and noise does the 6MP dome produce when running all day?

The camera has no moving fan or mechanical IR cut filter audible at distance; heat dissipates passively through the aluminium housing, staying within outdoor operating limits.
