Outdoor dome camera

The Avigilon 6.0C-H5A-DP1-IR is a pendant-mounted dome camera built for outdoor surveillance. It delivers 6MP resolution through a varifocal 4.9 to 8 mm lens on a 1/2 inch sensor. The H5A series design suits installers who need a single weather-resistant unit for building exteriors or covered outdoor areas.

Network and compression limits

Video streams travel over a 100BASE-TX link using an RJ45 connector with CAT5e cabling. The camera supports H.264 HDSM SmartCodec, H.265 HDSM SmartCodec and Motion JPEG compression. Protocols include IPv4, IPv6, HTTP, HTTPS, RTSP and related transport standards, but the 100 Mbps interface caps total throughput.

Resolution and frame-rate headroom

The 6MP sensor captures at 25 fps or 30 fps, providing detailed footage for general monitoring and identification tasks. Bandwidth and storage scale with the chosen codec; H.265 HDSM SmartCodec reduces demand compared to Motion JPEG. Scenarios requiring sustained multi-camera 6MP streams at 30 fps may exceed the 100 Mbps network ceiling.

Questions about this item

Which focal length suits a wider or narrower field of view on this 6MP pendant dome?

The varifocal lens adjusts from 4.9 mm for a wider angle to 8 mm for a narrower, more zoomed-in view, letting you match coverage to the mounting position.

What frame rate will the camera deliver at its full 6MP resolution in a live installation?

The sensor outputs 25 or 30 frames per second at 6MP, so motion appears smooth whether the stream runs at PAL or NTSC timing.

What bandwidth ceiling does the 100BASE-TX Ethernet port impose on the H.265 SmartCodec stream?

The RJ45 link caps throughput at 100 Mbps, so even with H.265 HDSM SmartCodec compression the total outbound bit-rate cannot exceed that physical limit.
