14 TB desktop storage

The Avolusion PRO-G1 Series provides 14 TB of capacity in a desktop external hard drive that connects through USB 3.2 Gen 2. It is aimed at Windows or macOS users who need large-volume expansion for backups, media libraries or project files without opening their computer.

Aluminium chassis with integrated hub

A silver aluminium enclosure houses a 7200 RPM drive and a built-in USB hub, allowing extra peripherals to be attached directly to the drive. The USB-C connection is backward compatible with USB 3.0 ports, so the unit works with a wide range of existing laptops and desktops.

Fan-less operation and 10 Gbps interface

The drive uses a silent fan-less design for quiet running in office or home environments. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface supports transfer rates up to 10 Gbps, while the formatted capacity yields roughly 12 TB of usable space for everyday workloads.

Questions about this item

What real-world throughput does the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface cap at?

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface caps at 10Gbps, so sustained transfer speeds will not exceed that theoretical limit.

What physical space and power does the desktop drive need on a desk?

It uses a durable aluminium chassis with a silent fan-less design and requires its own power adapter, so allow room for the drive and the external power brick.

How do I get the drive ready on macOS, and what step is often missed?

The drive works with macOS after reformatting to APFS; the step people miss is doing that reformat before first use.
