Purpose-built surveillance

The Axis Communications P5655-E 01682-004 is a PTZ network camera delivering HDTV 1080p resolution with 32x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom for detailed coverage. It suits operators who need a single unit to monitor wide areas and zoom in on specific incidents without deploying multiple fixed cameras.

Installation and connectivity

The camera carries IP66, NEMA 4X and IK10 ratings for resistance to harsh weather and impact. It mounts on ceilings and accepts power via IEEE 802.3at PoE+ or 20–28 V DC and 20–24 V AC inputs. Networking uses IPv4, IPv6 and a full suite of protocols including HTTPS, TLS 1.2/1.3, ONVIF and Zipstream with H.264/H.265 support.

Upgrade path and fit

This model replaces older PTZ units that lack Forensic WDR, Lightfinder 2.0 or electronic image stabilisation for clearer footage in mixed lighting and vibration. It is not for buyers who need resolution beyond 1920x1080 or zoom beyond 384x total. The 256 preset positions and guard tour functions suit automated patrol workflows rather than manual-only operation.
