Connect legacy FireWire devices
This ten-foot IEEE 1394 cable links a 4-pin port on one device to a 6-pin port on another. The transparent black jacket makes routing visible in tight spaces. It is built for users who still move data between older camcorders, external drives or audio interfaces.
4-pin to 6-pin crossover decides fit
One end carries the small 4-pin connector common on portable gear while the other end uses the larger 6-pin connector found on desktop cards and powered hubs. If both ports are the same size this cable will not connect them.
Passive wiring runs cool and silent
No active electronics means zero fan noise and no extra heat in normal use. The RoHS-compliant construction meets basic environmental standards. Power draw is limited to what the linked devices negotiate over the bus.
How it compares
Measured against everything we stock in FireWire 400/800 Cables, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.
- Price $11.99
- Cheaper than about 60% of the 60 comparable items (median $12.99).

Questions about this item
What devices can I connect with the 4-pin and 6-pin IEEE 1394 connectors on this 10 ft cable?
The 4-pin end fits portable gear such as DV camcorders or small external drives, while the 6-pin end plugs into desktop ports or powered hubs that supply bus power.
What does the IEEE 1394 interface on this cable actually limit in real use?
The link runs at the standard 1394 data rate, so sustained throughput tops out at the specification ceiling and cannot exceed it regardless of cable length.
What clearance do I need to route this 10 ft transparent black cable?
A 10 ft run needs enough slack for the bend radius behind the chassis and space for the moulded 4-pin and 6-pin heads to seat fully without strain.
