Filter Application

The Baldwin BT8409 is a spin-on oil and transmission filter built for specific equipment fleets. It fits 2011 Mazda Tribute models along with Case, Case-International, Komatsu, New Holland and Vermeer machinery.

Service Protection

A 14 psid bypass valve maintains flow if the element loads up, while an anti-drainback valve keeps the housing primed between starts. The 18 micron rating targets typical lube and transmission contaminant sizes.

Installation Fit

Thread size is 3/4 In. -16 for direct spin-on mounting. Overall height is 3-17/32 inches with a 3 inch outside diameter, matching the envelope of the original equipment cartridge.

Questions about this item

How do I install the BT8409 spin-on filter and what step is often missed?

Thread the 3/4-16 filter onto the mounting base by hand until the gasket contacts the base, then tighten an additional three-quarters of a turn. The step often missed is pre-filling the canister with clean oil to prevent dry start-up.

What maintenance or replacement will the BT8409 need later?

Replace the filter at every engine or transmission oil change interval recommended by the equipment manufacturer. The 18-micron media and 14 psid bypass valve are single-use components and cannot be cleaned or reused.

What limit appears first on the BT8409 during sustained heavy-duty operation?

The 14 psid bypass valve will open first if the 18-micron media becomes loaded with contaminants, allowing unfiltered flow to maintain lubrication pressure under high restriction.
