Hydraulic Spin-On Filter for Heavy Equipment

The Baldwin Filters BT8426-MPG is a spin-on hydraulic filter built for Caterpillar and Grove machinery. It uses Maximum Performance Glass media rated at 5 microns to capture fine contamination in hydraulic systems. The unit threads directly onto the equipment with a 2-16 thread size.

Bypass Valve and Seal Included

A 50 psid bypass valve is integrated into the filter so flow continues if the element becomes restricted. The supplied O-ring provides the sealing surface at the mounting base. Both components arrive fitted, so no separate seal or valve kit is required during installation.

Compact Canister with Standard Threads

The canister measures 3 3/4 inches in outside diameter and 6 3/32 inches in height, allowing it to fit existing filter housings on the specified equipment. The 2-16 thread matches the OEM port, so the filter installs with a simple spin-on action. Build quality follows Baldwin's automotive filter standards for pressure retention and durability.

Questions about this item

How often should the 5-micron spin-on cartridge be replaced on a Caterpillar system?

Replace the cartridge at the machine manufacturer's recommended service interval or when the 50 psid bypass valve begins to open.

What pressure limit triggers the internal bypass valve during heavy flow?

The built-in bypass valve opens at 50 psid to maintain flow if the element becomes restricted.

How hot does the housing get during continuous hydraulic operation?

Housing temperature follows the hydraulic fluid temperature; the filter adds no measurable heat of its own.
