Baldwin BT8428-MPG Hydraulic Spin-On Filter

This Baldwin Filters BT8428-MPG is a spin-on hydraulic filter rated at 8 microns for fine particle capture. It is built for hydraulic systems that require clean fluid to protect pumps and valves. The filter uses Maximum Performance Glass media for high efficiency. It suits maintenance technicians and equipment owners servicing compatible hydraulic circuits.

Simple spin-on installation with integral gasket

Installation follows a standard spin-on procedure using the 1-12 thread size. The included G401 integral gasket seals against the mounting head without a separate ring. Over-tightening can distort the gasket and cause leaks, while under-tightening lets vibration loosen the canister. Clean the mounting surface and lubricate the gasket with clean hydraulic fluid before fitting.

Glass media maintains flow under continuous duty

The Maximum Performance Glass media is designed to hold fine contaminants without rapid pressure rise during extended operation. The 8 micron rating targets particles that accelerate wear in close-tolerance components. Consistent flow is maintained as the media loads, reducing the frequency of bypass events. Service intervals depend on system cleanliness and duty cycle.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the BT8428-MPG is filtering at the rated 8 micron level after installation?

Monitor system pressure differential across the filter; a steady reading within the equipment manufacturer's specified range indicates the 8 micron glass media is flowing correctly.

The box shows a G401 integral gasket — are any additional seals or thread adapters required for the 1-12 thread?

The G401 gasket is built into the spin-on can; no extra seals or adapters are needed for the 1-12 thread.

Should I choose the BT8428-MPG over other Baldwin hydraulic filters for my application?

Select this model when the service manual calls for an 8 micron glass spin-on with 1-12 thread and the listed dimensions.
