Hydraulic Filter Element for Off-Highway Trucks

This Baldwin Filters H9042 cartridge element fits Caterpillar off-highway trucks. The wire mesh supported design provides a 5 micron rating for hydraulic system protection. It installs as an element only with an integral gasket included. Buyers needing a complete filter housing assembly should look elsewhere.

Micron Rating and Flow Characteristics

The 5 micron wire mesh media captures contaminants while maintaining hydraulic flow. Cartridge construction allows straightforward element replacement during scheduled maintenance. No thread size applies to this element-only format. Systems requiring finer or coarser filtration grades will need a different specification.

Dimensions and Mounting Constraints

Overall height and length measure 4 15/32 inches with a 1 3/4 inch outside diameter. The 1 1/32 inch inside diameter and integral gasket seal against the housing bore. Width matches the outside diameter at 1 3/4 inches. Installers must verify housing compatibility before ordering.

Questions about this item

How do I install the H9042 cartridge element and what step is often missed?

Install the cartridge into the housing with the integral gasket seated evenly; the step often missed is confirming the gasket is not pinched before tightening the housing.

What maintenance or replacement will the H9042 hydraulic filter need later?

Replace the cartridge element when the system service interval is reached or when the differential pressure indicator shows the 5 micron wire mesh element is loaded.

What limit appears first on the H9042 during sustained hydraulic flow?

The 5 micron wire mesh supported element reaches its dirt holding capacity first, causing a rising pressure drop that signals replacement.
