Baldwin Filters OB1317 Hydraulic Filter Base

This Baldwin Filters OB1317 is a hydraulic filter base designed for fluid-power systems that require a secure mounting point for a spin-on filter element. It suits maintenance technicians and equipment operators who need a reliable base for hydraulic filtration.

3/4-14 NPT inlet and outlet

The base features 3/4-14 NPT threads on both inlet and outlet ports, allowing direct connection to matching hydraulic hose or pipe fittings. Its 3-inch length and 3 3/4-inch outside diameter provide a compact footprint for integration into existing circuits.

No accessories included in the package

The product ships as the base unit only, so installers must supply the appropriate filter element, sealing washers and thread sealant separately. This approach lets technicians select the exact micron rating and media type their hydraulic system requires.

Questions about this item

What thread standard do the 3/4-14 NPT inlet and outlet use?

The base uses 3/4-14 NPT threads on both ports, a tapered pipe standard that seals on the threads themselves when tightened with sealant or tape.

What are the overall length and outside diameter for mounting clearance?

The housing measures 3 inches long with a 3 3/4 inch outside diameter, so allow at least that much space in the bracket or bulkhead cut-out.

How do I install the filter element onto this base without cross-threading?

Lubricate the filter gasket, spin the element on by hand until the gasket contacts the base, then turn the specified additional rotation — usually three-quarters to one full turn — using a filter wrench only for that final snug.
