Baldwin PT288-HD10 hydraulic filter element

This cartridge-type hydraulic filter element serves operators of compatible Ford loaders, John Deere equipment and Link-Belt backhoes. It fits PT288-HD case loaders and optional equipment configurations where a 5-micron rating is specified. The element design allows direct replacement without a housing change.

5-micron cartridge filtration and flow

The 5-micron media captures fine particles to protect hydraulic components during normal operation. Two integral gaskets seal the element inside the existing case to prevent bypass leakage. Dimensions of 7 7/16 inches in height and 4 1/2 inches in outside diameter match the original housing specifications.

Two integral gaskets included

The supplied gaskets eliminate the need to source separate seals during a service interval. No thread engagement is required because the element seats by compression inside the PT288-HD case. The filter is sold as an element only, so the reusable case must already be present on the machine.

Questions about this item

How do I install the PT288-HD10 cartridge into the PT288-HD case, and what step is often missed?

Slide the element into the case, then seat both integral gaskets — 2 7/32 in inside diameter — before tightening the lid; skipping the second gasket causes bypass.

What maintenance does the PT288-HD10 need after installation?

Replace the cartridge at the machine manufacturer's service interval; the 5-micron media is not cleanable and the integral gaskets are single-use.

What limit appears first when the PT288-HD10 runs continuously under load?

The 5-micron media loads with fine particles, raising restriction until the system bypass valve opens — typically the first sustained-use limit.
