Baldwin PT318-MPG Hydraulic Filter Element

This Baldwin Filters PT318-MPG is a Maximum Performance Glass hydraulic cartridge element measuring 12 7/8 inches in length. It carries an 18-micron rating and includes an O-ring for sealing. The element is designed for use with Allison transmissions and has an outside diameter of 3 3/32 inches.

Suits Allison transmission service.

This filter fits maintenance on Allison transmissions requiring an 18-micron glass element with these exact dimensions. It will not suit hydraulic systems needing a different micron rating, thread connection, or physical size. Buyers without Allison equipment should look elsewhere.

18-micron glass media decides fit

The single specification that determines compatibility is the 18-micron Maximum Performance Glass rating. Only select this element if the service manual calls for that exact filtration level and the 12 7/8-inch cartridge format.

Questions about this item

What hydraulic system must already be in place for the PT318-MPG filter element to function?

The cartridge is designed for Allison transmissions, so an Allison hydraulic circuit with a compatible housing is required.

Will the 12 7/8 in cartridge fit alongside the original filter housing on older Allison units?

The element matches the 12 7/8 in height and 3 3/32 in outside diameter specified for those Allison applications, so it installs in the existing housing without modification.

How can I confirm the 18 micron glass media is flowing correctly after installation?

Monitor the transmission pressure gauge for steady readings and inspect the included O-ring seal for leaks during the first warm-up cycle.
