Hydraulic Filter Element for Caterpillar Equipment

The Baldwin Filters PT8341 is a cartridge-style hydraulic element designed for Caterpillar machinery. It filters hydraulic fluid to a 5 micron rating, protecting system components from fine particle contamination during operation.

Practical Limits of Cartridge Filtration

The element measures 3 3/32 inches in height and length with a 1 31/32 inch outside diameter. Its 27/32 inch inside diameter and fixed micron rating define the flow capacity and particle capture threshold. Thread size is not applicable for this slip-in design.

Installation and Common Issues

An attached grommet and O-ring are included to seal the housing bore during insertion. Misalignment during installation can damage the seals and cause bypass leakage. Verify the housing bore matches the 1 31/32 inch outside diameter before fitting the element.

Questions about this item

Which hydraulic filter element should I choose for Caterpillar equipment needing a 5 micron rating?

The PT8341 is rated at 5 microns and is designed for Caterpillar equipment, measuring 3 3/32 inches in length and 1 31/32 inches in outside diameter.

What does the 5 micron rating mean when the filter is installed in a hydraulic system?

A 5 micron rating means the element captures particles 5 microns and larger, helping protect hydraulic components from fine contamination during operation.

How does the cartridge design and missing thread size affect installation on Caterpillar machines?

This cartridge-style element has no threads; it installs into a compatible Caterpillar housing using the attached grommet and O-ring for a secure seal.
