Industrial Photoelectric Sensor for 1500 mm Range

The Banner Q20NDXL is a diffuse-mode infrared proximity switch designed for presence detection up to 1500 mm. It operates on 10-30 V dc supply and provides complementary solid-state NPN outputs. The rectangular thermoplastic housing carries a 2 m (6.5 ft) cable and is rated IP67 and NEMA 6 for harsh environments.

Sensing Limits and Environmental Constraints

Diffuse sensing relies on target reflectivity, so actual range varies with surface colour and texture. The sensor functions between -20 °C and 60 °C with up to 95 % relative humidity at 50 °C. Response time is 0.8 ms with 155 µs repeatability, and a 100 ms power-up delay applies before the output stabilises.

NPN Output Determines Compatibility

The complementary solid-state NPN output requires a control input that sinks current to ground. Systems wired for PNP sourcing logic or higher voltage levels cannot use this sensor directly. Verify that your PLC or controller accepts NPN signals before installation.
