M18 Inductive Sensor for Metal Detection

The Turck Bi5-M18-RP6X-H1141 is a flush-mount proximity switch built for industrial automation. Its threaded M18 × 1 brass barrel fits standard sensor brackets and connects via an M12 × 1 male plug. The PNP normally-closed output suits PLC inputs that expect a high signal when no target is present. IP68 sealing and magnetic-field resistance make it reliable on welding lines and in harsh process environments.

5 mm Rated Switching Distance with Factor 1

The sensor detects all metals at the same 5 mm rated distance without correction factors. This simplifies setup when the line handles mixed ferrous and non-ferrous parts. The uprox®+ design maintains that range through temperature swings and electromagnetic noise. Detection drops off beyond the rated zone, so applications needing longer reach will require a larger housing or a different sensing principle.

Low Heat and Silent Operation on 10–30 VDC

As a solid-state DC three-wire device, it draws only the load current of the connected input module, generating negligible heat. No moving parts mean zero acoustic noise during switching cycles up to the specified high frequency. The chrome-plated brass housing dissipates any residual warmth into the mounting block, keeping internal temperatures stable across the extended operating range.
