Opposed-mode receiver for 8 m sensing

The Banner Q23SP6RQ is a photoelectric sensor receiver designed for opposed-mode detection up to 8000 mm. It operates on a 10 to 30 V dc supply and provides complementary PNP discrete outputs. The red visible LED sensing beam and rectangular thermoplastic housing suit industrial automation and electrician tool applications. This new unit includes a 6 in. pigtail with an M8 quick-disconnect connector.

Wiring and mounting requirements for integration

The sensor needs an opposed-mode emitter paired at up to 8 m range and a 10 to 30 V dc power source. Its four-pin M8 pigtail QD connection plugs into a matching cordset, freeing panel space compared with hard-wired terminals. Potentiometer adjustment allows light or dark operate selection without opening the enclosure. NEMA 1, 2, 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 12, 13 and IP67 ratings let it mount directly on machines exposed to wash-down or dust.

Stable response during continuous operation

Output response time is 1 ms with 130 µs repeatability, so the signal remains consistent across long production runs. A 100 ms power-up delay prevents false triggers at start-up. The acrylic lens and thermoplastic housing withstand -20 to 55 °C ambient temperatures and 90 % relative humidity at 50 °C. Health and marginal signal output provides early warning before performance degrades under sustained load.
