12 V 1.5 A switching power supply

This 12 V 1.5 A switching power supply delivers up to 18 W from a 100-240 V 50-60 Hz mains input. It is intended for devices such as LED strips, CCTV cameras, network switches and audio or video equipment that require a 5.5 mm x 2.1-2.5 mm barrel connector with centre-positive polarity.

Continuous 18 W output under load

The adapter maintains its rated 12 V 1.5 A output as long as the connected device draws no more than 18 W. Exceeding this limit will cause the supply to shut down or behave unpredictably, so it is unsuitable for equipment with higher peak or sustained power demands.

Passive cooling and 1.4 m cable

With no moving parts the unit runs silently and relies on its enclosure for heat dissipation during normal operation. A 1.4 m (4.6 ft) power cord provides flexible placement, while the fixed DC plug ensures a secure connection for compatible low-power peripherals.

Questions about this item

How warm does the 12 V 1.5 A adapter get when it runs continuously?

The unit is a switching supply rated for 18 W maximum output, so it stays cool enough for 24/7 use in typical indoor temperatures.

Which cables or connectors must I already have to use this adapter?

You need a device with a 5.5 mm × 2.1–2.5 mm centre-positive DC jack and a standard mains lead for the 100–240 V AC inlet.

Will the 5.5 mm × 2.5 mm plug work with the 2.1 mm jack on my older CCTV camera?

The plug accepts inner diameters from 2.1 mm to 2.5 mm, so it fits both the 2.1 mm and 2.5 mm sockets found on legacy equipment.
