Compatible Motorola radios

This replacement battery fits the XTS1500, XTS2500, PR1500 and MT1500 two-way radios. It replaces the original NTN9858, NTN9858C and NTN9814 packs. The NiMH chemistry delivers 2700mAh at 7.5V. Buyers needing a different voltage or connector will not be able to use this pack.

NiMH chemistry limits

Nickel-metal-hydride cells self-discharge faster than lithium types, so the pack should be charged before each shift. The 2700mAh capacity sets the maximum talk time per charge cycle. Users who require longer runtime between charges will find this capacity limiting.

2700mAh capacity decision

The 2700mAh rating is the single figure that determines whether this battery meets your operational window. If your duty cycle demands more stored energy, this pack will fall short. If the rating matches your shift length, the cell quality and 18-month warranty support reliable daily use.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 2700mAh version or a lower-capacity pack for my XTS1500?

The 2700mAh NiMH pack stores more charge than lower-capacity alternatives, so it extends operating time between charges on the XTS1500, XTS2500, MT1500 and PR1500 models.

What does the 7.5V rating mean when the battery is powering my radio?

7.5V is the nominal voltage the pack supplies to the radio; the XTS1500, XTS2500, MT1500 and PR1500 are designed to operate at this voltage.

Does the NTN9858C interface limit talk time or charge speed in practice?

The NTN9858C SMART interface communicates capacity and health to the radio and charger, enabling correct charge termination and fuel-gauge read-out on XTS1500, XTS2500, MT1500 and PR1500 units.
