Connection range

The BattleBorn BB-Cat5-1BLK is a one-foot Cat5e UTP patch cable with RJ-45 connectors. It is built with 24 AWG stranded copper conductors and a moulded snagless boot. The cable carries EIA/TIA ETL verification to the 568B wiring standard. Its black jacket suits short runs inside racks, desks or wall outlets.

Fit and limits

This length works for buyers who need a tidy link between a switch and a nearby device or between a wall jack and a desktop. It will not reach across rooms, between floors or through trunking that demands longer cable. Installers who require plenum-rated jackets or shielded construction should look elsewhere.

Deciding spec

The cable is rated Cat5e and wired to the TIA/EIA 568B standard. That designation determines whether it meets the performance class required for the intended network segment.

Questions about this item

How do I insert the RJ45 plug without breaking the snagless boot tab?

Press the connector straight into the port until the molded boot clicks; pulling the cable at an angle snaps the flexible tab that protects the latch.

Will the stranded 24 AWG conductors fatigue if the cable is moved repeatedly?

Stranded copper tolerates frequent flexing better than solid wire, so routine repositioning behind a desk will not degrade the conductors.

At what speed does the Cat5e rating become the bottleneck on a gigabit link?

The cable supports 1000 Mbps, so the 100 MHz Cat5e bandwidth is the first limit reached under sustained gigabit throughput.
