run patch cable

This Belkin A3L791-02-PUR is a Category 5e unshielded twisted-pair patch cable with RJ45 connectors on each end. It is intended for anyone wiring a Local Area Network over short distances such as a desk, rack or patch panel. The purple jacket helps colour-code links in a busy cabinet.

Cat 5e 10/100 Base-T rating

The single specification that decides fit is the Category 5e rating for 10/100 Base-T networks. It carries Fast Ethernet traffic up to 100 Mbps and is not rated for Gigabit or higher speeds. Buyers who need 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps throughput should select a higher-category cable.

Consistent signal over two feet

At 2 ft the run is well within the 100 m channel limit, so attenuation and crosstalk remain negligible during sustained data transfer. The unshielded construction keeps the cable flexible for tight routing while maintaining stable 10/100 performance under continuous load.

Questions about this item

What does the 2 ft length mean for cable routing inside a rack?

The 2 ft patch cable reaches between adjacent patch-panel ports or from a switch to a nearby wall jack without excess slack that blocks airflow.

How does the Cat 5e rating limit the usable network speed?

Cat 5e supports up to 100 Mbps on 10/100 Base-T networks, so gigabit links will fall back to 100 Mbps over this cable.

Will the unshielded RJ45 plugs fit a standard keystone jack?

Yes, the UTP RJ45 connectors match the 8P8C keystone and switch ports used in 10/100 Base-T installations.
