What this cable connects

The Belkin A3L980-07-PUR-S is a Category 6 patch cable built for wired network links between routers, switches and desktop PCs. It ships new with RJ45 plugs on both ends and a purple jacket for quick visual identification in busy racks. The snagless moulded boots protect the release tabs during repeated reconnections. Buyers who need fibre or longer runs will need a different product.

Category 6 rating

The single specification that decides fit is the Cat 6 rating, which supports gigabit Ethernet speeds over the full 7 ft length. Both connectors are wired to the same standard, so the link negotiates at the highest rate the attached ports allow. No shielding or crossover wiring is present, so installers must verify the port type at each end.

Thermals noise and power

Passive copper construction means the cable draws no power and generates no heat or audible noise during normal operation. The flexible PVC jacket resists kinking when routed through cable management channels. Performance remains stable across typical indoor temperature ranges without active cooling.

Questions about this item

What speed will a Cat 6 cable actually deliver in my network?

Cat 6 is rated for 1 Gbps over the full 7 ft length, and the snagless moulded connectors keep the signal clean at that rate.

Does the RJ45 connector limit what I can plug it into?

The RJ45 plugs fit any standard Ethernet port on routers, switches, PCs or NAS devices without adapters.

Will the 7 ft purple cable reach between my wall jack and desk switch?

At 7 ft the purple cable spans typical desk-to-wall distances, and the snagless boots prevent the clips from catching when routed.
