Integrated 17-inch LCD KVM console

The BFKK unit combines a 17-inch LCD monitor, US keyboard and touchpad in a single 1U rack-mountable chassis. It allows an administrator to control up to eight computers or servers directly from the rack. The console fits standard 19-inch cabinets with an adjustable rear rail that accommodates depths from 23.6 to 31.8 inches.

VGA switching with hotkey, OSD and panel controls

Three switching methods are provided: on-screen display menu, hotkey sequence and front-panel buttons. Daisy-chain capability extends management to a maximum of 64 connected systems. The package includes eight KVM cables, four measuring five feet and four measuring six feet, so every port can be cabled immediately.

VGA resolution limited to 1280x1024 at 30 Hz

The integrated display tops out at 1280x1024 resolution with a 30 Hz refresh rate, which restricts use to legacy or text-heavy server interfaces. Compatibility covers Windows, DOS, Linux and Mac OS 8.6 through 10, but modern high-resolution or high-refresh-rate workloads are not supported. Buyers needing higher pixel counts or faster refresh rates should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 17-inch LCD panel need backlight or panel replacement after long-term use?

The 17-inch LCD is rated for continuous rack operation; no user-replaceable backlight module is specified, so panel service would require a qualified technician.

What resolution ceiling will I hit first when running eight servers through the VGA ports?

The console tops out at 1280x1024@30Hz, so that resolution and refresh limit will appear before any port bandwidth constraint.

How much heat and fan noise does the 1U unit generate when left on 24/7 in a 19-inch cabinet?

The 1U chassis uses passive cooling with no fan listed, so heat stays low and audible noise is minimal in an 800mm-depth rack.
