Wired HDMI extender receiver

This wired receiver extends an HDMI signal up to 500 ft over a single Category 8 twisted-pair cable. It delivers a maximum video resolution of 1900 x 1200, matching WUXGA graphics modes. The unit includes one RJ-45 network port and one VGA output for flexible display connectivity. RoHS certification confirms environmentally friendly construction.

Installers needing long-range WUXGA distribution

Suited for commercial AV projects that require a compact receiver at the display end of a Category 8 link. The 0.80" height, 1.80" width and 2.50" depth fit tight enclosures behind screens. Not intended for users who need 4K or higher resolutions, nor for runs exceeding the 500 ft limit.

500 ft maximum operating distance

The 500 ft reach over Category 8 twisted pair is the single figure that determines whether this receiver matches the installation. If the cable run is shorter, the unit still operates; if it is longer, a different solution is required. A two-year limited warranty covers the hardware.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Black Box AVU4001A-RX receiver and what step is often missed?

Connect a Category 8 twisted pair cable up to 500 ft to the single RJ-45 port, then attach a VGA display to the VGA output; the step often missed is confirming the source sends a 1900 x 1200 WUXGA signal so the receiver can output correctly.

What maintenance or replacement will the AVU4001A-RX need over time?

The unit has no user-serviceable parts; if the RJ-45 port or VGA output fails after the 2-year limited warranty, the entire receiver must be replaced.

What limit appears first when the AVU4001A-RX runs continuously at 500 ft?

The 1900 x 1200 WUXGA resolution ceiling is the first hard limit; the Category 8 twisted pair link carries the signal the full 500 ft without further degradation.
