Black Box Corporation

Black Box C6PC28-BK-05 Slim-Net Cat6 250 MHz 28 AWG 5 ft

SKU CH-5YHY-X5B8N

Slim 28-AWG Cat6 patch cable saves over 50 percent space in high-density racks and improves airflow

  • Slim 0.161 in. diameter saves over 50 % space vs 24 AWG
  • 28 AWG stranded conductors make routing easy without extra cable managers
  • High-density 1U and 2U patch panels fit more cables per rack unit
  • Cat6 250 MHz rating supports Gigabit Ethernet performance
  • Lightweight 0.010 lb design simplifies moves, adds and changes

Space-Saving Cable for Dense Patching

The Black Box Slim-Net Cat6 patch cable uses a 28-AWG stranded construction measuring .161 inches in diameter. It is built for crowded telecom rooms and data centres where rack space is at a premium. The slim profile reduces physical cable area by more than half compared to typical 24-AWG cables.

Fits High-Density Panels Without Managers

Its small footprint lets you populate 1U or 2U patch panels more fully and often removes the need for horizontal cable managers. Extra space between cables improves finger access during installs and moves while also aiding airflow and port visibility in tight bundles.

Handles Gigabit Runs Up to 5 Feet

Rated at 250 MHz, the unshielded PVC cable supports Gigabit Ethernet over its five-foot length. It is not suited for longer permanent links or shielded environments that require heavier gauge or screened constructions.

Questions about this item

Will the 28 AWG conductors limit throughput on a sustained 250 MHz Gigabit link?

The cable is rated for 250 MHz Cat6 performance, so sustained Gigabit traffic stays within spec despite the thinner 28 AWG conductors.

Does the slim .161-inch diameter change heat build-up or signal loss when the cable runs all day in a dense bundle?

The reduced cross-section improves airflow between cables, lowering bundle temperature and keeping attenuation within Cat6 limits during continuous use.

What patch-panel port spacing do I need so the 28 AWG connectors fit side-by-side without blocking adjacent ports?

Standard 1U or 2U high-density panels accept the slim connectors; the .161-inch cable diameter leaves enough finger room for dense patching.
