Cable for network patching

This Black Box Cat6a UTP patch cable connects network devices over a 5 ft run. It uses 28 AWG conductors and terminates in snagless RJ-45 male plugs on both ends. The black PVC jacket is rated for 500 MHz bandwidth.

Suits short indoor links

The 5 ft length fits rack-to-panel or desk-to-wall connections where a longer cable would add slack. Installers needing runs beyond this distance or a different jacket rating should select another cable.

500 MHz bandwidth rating

The 500 MHz figure is the specification that confirms the cable meets the Cat6a performance class for high-speed Ethernet. Match this rating to the channel requirements of the installation.

Questions about this item

Will the 28 AWG conductors and 5 ft length fit through a standard 1U patch panel without blocking adjacent ports?

The slim 28 AWG jacket reduces bulk, and the 5 ft length provides enough slack for neat routing in a 1U panel while keeping adjacent ports accessible.

What is the correct way to seat the snagless RJ-45 plugs so the latch does not catch on neighbouring cables?

Push each RJ-45 male connector straight in until the latch clicks, then pull back gently to confirm it is locked; angling the plug can bend the snagless tab and cause snagging.

How often should a 500 MHz Cat6a patch cable be replaced in a typical office network?

With a lifetime warranty and solid PVC construction, replacement is only needed if the jacket is kinked, the latch breaks, or certification testing shows degraded performance.
