Professional SDI-to-HDMI converter

The Black Box Corporation 3G-SDI/HD-SDI to HDMI media converter connects professional SDI sources to HDMI displays for monitoring in broadcast, post-production and AV environments. It accepts 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI signals and converts them to HDMI with digitally pure video and audio quality. An integrated SDI loopout passes the original signal to a second SDI device for simultaneous local monitoring or daisy-chaining.

For video engineers needing HDMI monitoring

This unit suits professionals who must view uncompressed SDI video on consumer-grade HDTVs while feeding the original signal downstream. It supports multi-channel audio including 5.1 and 7.1 channel formats for surround sound workflows. Buyers who require format scaling, frame-rate conversion or signal generation should look at a different class of processor.

SDI loopout enables dual-path distribution

The second coax connector provides a loopout that duplicates the incoming SDI signal for a second SDI device without re-clocking or alteration. This single feature determines whether the converter fits a workflow needing simultaneous HDMI viewing and SDI signal continuation.

Questions about this item

What power supply or cooling parts will need replacing over time?

The unit is powered by an external supply, so only that adapter may need replacement; no internal fans or filters are present.

Which signal limit appears first when running 3G-SDI continuously?

The converter passes 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI up to its rated bandwidth, so the source or cable length will limit the run before the device does.

How much heat or noise does it produce during all-day operation?

With no moving parts and low power draw, it runs silently and stays cool to the touch even after hours of continuous use.
