High-Density Shielded Patch Panel

The Black Box Corporation Cat 5e feed-through patch panel provides 48 shielded RJ-45 ports in a 2U rack-mount form factor. It is designed for structured cabling installations that require a high port count with EMI protection and a straightforward punch-down or feed-through termination method. The shielded construction helps maintain signal integrity in environments with electrical interference.

Ideal for Rack-Based Network Builds

This panel suits network engineers and installers populating standard server racks where shielded Cat 5e connectivity is specified. It is not intended for deployments that require Category 6 or higher performance, nor for wall-mount or compact enclosures that cannot accommodate a 2U height. Buyers needing unshielded panels or a different port density should consider alternative options.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the 2U shielded patch panel in a standard rack?

Secure the panel to the rack rails using four cage nuts and screws, aligning the mounting ears so the 48 RJ-45 ports face forward; the common mistake is leaving the bottom screws loose, which lets the panel sag under cable weight.

When will the shielded RJ-45 ports need replacement?

Replace a port if the shield tabs bend, the latch breaks, or insertion force rises sharply; with normal patching cycles the 48 ports typically last years, but frequent re-terminations accelerate wear.
