Serial extension for legacy equipment

This 20 ft shielded serial cable carries RS-232 signals between a DB-9 male port and a DB-9 female port. The beige jacket and moulded hoods protect the conductors in office or industrial environments. It is built for engineers and technicians maintaining older instrumentation, point-of-sale systems or network gear that still rely on nine-pin serial links.

Shielded construction with moulded strain relief

The cable uses a shielded design to reduce electromagnetic interference on the 232 signal path. Moulded hoods on both ends grip the connector body, preventing wire fatigue when the cable is routed through cable trays or behind rack-mounted equipment. The male-to-female pinout extends an existing serial run without gender changers or adapters.

Replaces shorter or unshielded serial leads

When a device sits farther from the host than the original cable allows, this 20 ft extension closes the gap while adding shielding the factory lead may lack. The jump is worth it when signal errors appear on long runs near motors, fluorescent lighting or power distribution units. It does not suit installations that require a null-modem crossover or a 25-pin interface.
