50 ft null-modem cable

The Black Box EYN257T-0050-FF is a 50 ft serial cable fitted with DB-9 female connectors on both ends. It provides a direct RS-232 link between two DTE devices such as PCs, terminals or industrial controllers. The beige jacket suits office or data-centre rack installations.

RS-232 signalling over long runs

The cable carries standard RS-232 voltage levels across the full 50 ft length without active signal conditioning. Pin-to-pin wiring crosses transmit and receive lines so connected equipment communicates immediately. Shielded construction reduces electromagnetic interference in dense cable trays.

DB-9 mechanical limits

The DB-9 shells use thumbscrew retention for a secure fit on standard serial ports. Cable flexibility allows routing through trunking or under raised floors without exceeding the connector bend radius. No external power or driver software is required for the physical link.

Questions about this item

Does the EYN257T-0050-FF draw any power or generate heat during continuous serial links?

The cable is a passive 50 ft DB-9 female-to-female RS-232 link with no active electronics, so it consumes no power and produces no measurable heat.

What ports must my equipment already provide for this null-modem cable to connect?

Both devices need a standard DB-9 male RS-232 serial port; the cable plugs directly into those two ports.

Will the 50 ft length and DB-9 pinout work reliably with legacy RS-232 gear such as older PLCs or terminals?

Yes, the straight-through null-modem wiring and RS-232 signalling are compatible with legacy DB-9 serial equipment at this distance.
