Single-mode fibre patch lead

This 3 m single-mode patch cable links network equipment with SC and LC connectors. The yellow jacket identifies OS2 fibre for long-distance runs. It suits installers and IT teams extending backbone links between patch panels or switches.

OFNR-rated PVC sheath

The cable carries an OFNR riser rating for vertical pathways in commercial buildings. PVC construction resists abrasion during pulls while meeting flame-spread requirements. Low-smoke materials help maintain air quality in plenum-adjacent spaces.

Duplex SC-to-LC connectivity

One end terminates in a square SC connector, the other in a small-form-factor LC connector for high-density panels. Ceramic ferrules keep insertion loss low across the 9 µm core. Colour-coded boots simplify polarity checks during routine maintenance.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the SC and LC ends of this 3 m single-mode patch cable?

Insert the SC connector into the SC port until it clicks, then insert the LC connector into the LC port until it clicks; the step often missed is cleaning both ferrule tips with a lint-free wipe and isopropyl alcohol before mating.

What upkeep will this OS2 yellow-jacket cable require over time?

Inspect the SC and LC ferrules for dust or scratches before each reconnection; replace the patch cord if insertion loss exceeds your link budget or if the PVC jacket shows cracking or kinks.

What limits performance first on a 3 m single-mode run under continuous traffic?

The 3 m length adds negligible attenuation, so the first practical limit is connector cleanliness and mating quality at the SC and LC interfaces.
