Two-port surface-mount housing

The Black Box SMH-2 provides two sockets in a compact white enclosure designed for surface mounting on walls or flat surfaces. It suits installers who need a simple termination point for network cabling in offices or homes.

Sustained passive operation

The adapter contains no active electronics or moving parts so its behaviour under load is entirely defined by the cables and connectors seated in its two ports. It adds no latency, heat or power draw of its own during continuous data transfer.

Straightforward screw mounting

The housing measures 1.1" by 1.1" by 2" and weighs 0.99 oz, allowing it to be secured with standard screws on most flat surfaces. Installers must supply their own mounting hardware and ensure the chosen surface can accept fasteners; no adhesive pad or template is included.

Questions about this item

Does the SMH-2 generate any heat or noise during continuous operation?

No, the SMH-2 is a passive surface-mount housing with no active components, so it produces no heat or noise.

What keystone jacks or couplers do I need to populate the two ports?

The unit provides two empty keystone openings; you must supply Category 5e, 6 or 6A jacks or couplers that match your cabling.

Will this white surface-mount box match older ivory or beige faceplates already on the wall?

The housing is moulded in white only; it will not colour-match legacy ivory or beige installations.
