10-Gigabit 50-micron multimode patch cable

This 3-metre duplex fibre patch cable uses 50-micron multimode fibre with LC connectors at both ends. It is built for 10-gigabit Ethernet links inside racks, cabinets or short campus runs where multimode infrastructure already exists. The zipcord PVC jacket protects the fibres during routine handling and installation.

Distance limit for 10-gigabit multimode

Multimode fibre at 50 microns supports 10-gigabit speeds only up to the distances defined by the relevant IEEE standard for the wavelength in use. Beyond that reach the signal degrades and a single-mode cable or active equipment would be required. The 3-metre length supplied here is well within the short-range envelope for typical data-centre patching.
