Server-access KVM cable

The Black Box KV1401A connects a computer or server to a CX Uno, CX or CX Receiver using a single 164 ft RJ-45 link. It carries VGA video up to 1920x1200 and USB keyboard and mouse signals over that distance.

Verify switch model and reach

Check which Black Box KVM switch you are connecting to because the supported cable length changes with the model. A CX Uno allows up to 32 ft, a CX up to 150 ft and a CX Receiver up to 980 ft.

Replaces separate VGA and USB runs

This cable consolidates video and peripheral connections into one run, reducing cable count at the rack. The jump is worth it when you need to place a server up to 164 ft from the switch while keeping a single tidy link.

Questions about this item

Does the 164 ft Black Box KV1401A cable include everything needed to connect a server, or must I buy the CX receiver separately?

The cable has an RJ-45 female end, an HD-15 male VGA connector and a USB Type-A male connector built in. It plugs directly into the server; the CX Uno, CX or CX Receiver unit at the far end is sold separately.

How do I choose between the CX Uno, CX and CX Receiver models when the cable supports different maximum lengths for each?

Match the unit to your required distance: CX Uno works up to 32 feet, CX up to 150 feet, and CX Receiver up to 980 feet. The 164 ft cable itself is within the CX range, so a CX unit will cover this length.

What does the 1920x1200 video support mean when the cable runs the full 164 feet to a CX unit?

The specification guarantees VGA resolution up to 1920x1200 plus USB keyboard and mouse operation across the full 164 ft link when used with a compatible CX unit.
