Live production switcher for streaming

The Blackmagic Design Atem Mini Pro ISO is a compact video switcher built for live production and streaming. It accepts four HDMI inputs and provides a single HDMI output alongside a USB webcam output. The unit records five independent streams including a clean program feed and creates a DaVinci Resolve project file for post-production.

Check HDMI sources and USB storage

Verify that each camera or source supplies an HDMI signal the switcher can convert automatically. Ensure a USB drive with enough capacity is available for H.264 recording of all five streams. Confirm the streaming destination accepts the hardware encoder output for platforms such as YouTube Live, Facebook or Twitch.

Hardware encoding keeps thermals low

The built-in H.264 streaming engine handles encoding without taxing an external computer, so the chassis stays cool during extended sessions. Fan noise remains low enough for quiet studio environments. Power is drawn from the supplied external supply, avoiding additional load on a host system.

Questions about this item

Does the Atem Mini Pro ISO include cables or a USB drive, or must I buy them separately?

The unit provides four HDMI inputs, one HDMI output and a USB port; cables and external USB storage for recording are not included and must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the Atem Mini Pro ISO over the standard Atem Mini Pro for the extra recording features?

The ISO model adds simultaneous recording of all four inputs plus a clean program feed, and creates a DaVinci Resolve project file for streamlined post-production.

What does the H.264 streaming engine mean for a live broadcast to YouTube or Twitch?

It encodes the program output in H.264 internally and pushes the stream directly to platforms such as YouTube Live, Facebook and Twitch without needing a separate computer.
