Blue Raspberry USB Microphone

The Blue Raspberry is a cardioid electret condenser microphone with a 14mm capsule designed for podcasting, streaming, voice-over, Skype and music applications. It connects via Micro USB or Lightning for plug-and-play operation on PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad. The patented capsule circuitry and internal acoustic diffuser focus vocals while minimising room noise. It ships in a Raspberry red finish with a removable, collapsible stand.

Compatibility and mounting check

Verify your device has a Micro USB port or Lightning connector and supplies enough bus power for operation. The microphone uses a standard 1/4"-20 camera thread and includes a 5/8"-27 adapter for conventional mic stands. Headphone monitoring requires a 3.5mm jack on the mic itself. iPhone and iPad compatibility covers the models listed in the specifications.

Bundled stand and monitoring features

The collapsible stand folds flat for transport and removes entirely for stand mounting. On-body controls provide headphone volume, microphone gain adjustment from 0 to +40dB and a mute switch for live monitoring. The built-in headphone amplifier drives 32 ohm loads. These integrated features eliminate the need for a separate audio interface in many mobile and desktop setups.

Questions about this item

What cables and stands come with the Raspberry Red USB microphone and what must I buy separately?

The package includes a removable collapsible stand with a standard 5/8-27 thread adapter and a Micro USB cable for plug-and-play connection to PC or Mac. A Lightning cable for iPhone or iPad is not included and must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the 16-bit or 24-bit mode and 44.1 or 48 kHz sampling rate for my recordings?

The microphone supports both 16-bit and 24-bit depth at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Use 24-bit / 48 kHz for maximum headroom and editing flexibility; 16-bit / 44.1 kHz is sufficient for standard streaming, voice chat or podcast distribution.

How loud a source can the 14 mm capsule handle before distortion and what gain range is available?

The electret condenser capsule handles up to 120 dB SPL at 0.5 % THD and offers an adjustable gain range of 0 to +40 dB, so you can capture loud instruments or close-up vocals without clipping.
