RodBuckle Retractable Rod Hold-Down System

Designed by fishermen for fishermen, the RodBuckle Retractable Rod Hold-Down System secures rods on deck-style fishing boats. The self-retracting polyester strap extends a full 24 inches and locks into position on the deck. A PVC extrusion coated strap grips rods firmly and resists hook penetration. When not in use, the strap neatly retracts out of the way.

Installation with included mounting template

Easy installation is supported by a mounting template included in the package. The self-retracting mechanism requires precise alignment of the gunwale or deck mount base for the strap to extend and lock smoothly. What usually goes wrong is misaligned mounting holes causing the strap to bind or fail to retract fully into the housing.

Check gunwale or deck mounting surface

Verify your boat has a suitable flat gunwale or deck area for the mount base before ordering. Ensure the mounting location allows the 24-inch strap to reach your rod storage position without obstruction. Confirm the 1.5-inch diameter housing fits the available space and that the surface can accept the required fasteners for a secure hold.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the self-retracting strap is working correctly after I mount the F14200?

After installation, pull the strap out to its full 24 inch extension; it should lock firmly in place and the PVC coated surface will grip the rod. When released, the strap retracts automatically into the housing without sagging.

What hardware comes in the clam package and what must I supply myself?

The package includes the RodBuckle unit and a mounting template for drilling. You will need to provide your own screws or bolts suitable for the gunwale or deck material you are mounting to.

Should I choose the 24 inch 1.5 inch diameter version or a different size for my boat?

The F14200 provides a 24 inch strap length and 1.5 inch strap width; select this model if those dimensions match the distance from your mounting point to the rod and the rod diameter you need to secure.
