Ceiling speaker for 25V and 70V systems

The Bogen Communications S86T725PG8WVR is a pre-assembled ceiling speaker built for commercial audio installations. Its eight-inch cone driver delivers paging and background music through a 50Hz to 12kHz frequency range. The unit includes a built-in transformer with multiple power taps and a recessed volume control on the grille.

Passive operation with transformer taps

As a passive component, the speaker draws no mains power and produces no fan noise or heat of its own. The integrated transformer offers selectable taps at 4, 2, 1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 watt for 25V or 70V line matching. Sensitivity is rated at 95dB measured at four feet with the four-watt tap engaged.

Steel grille with recessed control

The off-white painted steel grille measures 13 inches in diameter and fits flush into drop-ceiling tiles. A recessed volume knob at the centre prevents accidental adjustments during daily use. The assembly depth is 3-1/4 inches, and the package includes the four-watt transformer and mounting hardware.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Bogen S86T725PG8WVR ceiling speaker, and what step is often missed?

Mount the 13-inch diameter unit into a drop-ceiling cut-out, connect the 25V or 70V line to the desired transformer tap (4W down to 1/8W), then set the recessed volume knob before finalising the grille — installers often forget to select the correct wattage tap for each zone.

What maintenance or replacement will the Bogen S86T725PG8WVR need over time?

The 8-inch cone driver and 4-watt transformer are sealed behind the steel grille; no user-serviceable parts exist, so plan only occasional dusting of the off-white finish and full unit replacement if output drops below the rated 95 dB at 4 feet.

What limit appears first when the Bogen S86T725PG8WVR runs continuously at high volume?

The 4-watt transformer tap is the ceiling — sustained full-power paging or music will hit that limit before the 50 Hz to 12 kHz driver reaches thermal compression.
