Drafting Stool with Lumbar Support

This black drafting stool is built for people who spend long hours at elevated work surfaces such as drafting tables, standing desks or laboratory benches. The contoured back and seat are shaped to reduce back strain and deliver lumbar support through extended sessions. A pneumatic gas lift lets you set the seat height quickly to match the task at hand.

Chrome Footring and Stable Nylon Base

A 20 inch diameter chrome footring wraps the column, giving legs and feet a solid rest platform at any height. The 27 inch nylon base spreads the load widely for greater stability on hard floors or low-pile carpet. Hooded double wheel casters roll smoothly and change direction easily, so you can reposition without standing up.

Upgrade from Fixed-Height Seating

This stool replaces fixed-height chairs or basic stools that lack height adjustment and dedicated foot support. The jump is worth it when the work surface height varies between users or tasks, or when prolonged sitting demands proper lumbar contouring and a stable, mobile base.

Questions about this item

How does the pneumatic gas lift seat height adjustment work on the B1690-BK drafting stool?

The pneumatic gas lift allows you to raise or lower the seat smoothly using a lever under the seat, letting you set the height for your work surface.

What base size and caster type does the B1690-BK stool use for stability and movement?

It has a 27" nylon base for stability and hooded double wheel casters that roll easily on hard floors or low-pile carpet.

How is the 20" chrome footring attached and adjusted on the B1690-BK stool?

The footring mounts on the gas lift column and is secured with a set screw; the common mistake is not tightening the screw fully, which lets the ring slip.
