Industrial Ethernet I/O Gateway
The Brainboxes ED-008 connects eight digital input/output channels to a 10/100Base-TX network. An onboard ARM processor running at 80 MHz handles local logic, letting the unit appear as a virtual COM port on the host PC for legacy software compatibility. It is built for 24 V factory-floor environments and mounts on a standard DIN rail.
Verify Network and Voltage Compatibility
Confirm your infrastructure provides a single twisted-pair Ethernet drop and a 24 V DC supply for the process-side circuits. The enclosure measures 4.5 inches wide by 3.9 inches deep and weighs 8.82 ounces, so check DIN-rail space and cable routing before ordering. No PoE, USB or wireless interfaces are present.
Replaces Hard-Wired Terminal Blocks
This unit upgrades installations that currently run discrete field wiring back to a PLC or PC add-in card. The jump is worthwhile when you need to consolidate cabling over Ethernet, require Microsoft-signed drivers for modern OS support, or want RoHS and WEEE compliance with a lifetime warranty.

Questions about this item
What comes with the ED-008 and what must be sourced separately?
The box contains the ED-008 unit, an installation CD with manual, Microsoft signed drivers, utilities and a quick start guide. A 24 V power supply and Ethernet cable are not included and must be purchased separately.
Which I/O capacity does this model provide?
This model provides exactly eight digital input/output channels. No other channel-count versions are offered under the ED-008 part number.
What does the 80 MHz ARM processor mean for real-world response?
The 80 MHz 32-bit ARM CPU handles protocol conversion locally, so the eight I/O lines update deterministically over the 10/100Base-TX link without adding noticeable latency to legacy COM-port applications.
