A compact duplex document scanner captures colour and mono pages at up to 16 ppm with 600 x 600 dpi optical resolution and wireless or USB power
The Brother DS-940DW is a compact document scanner that captures single and double-sided pages in one pass at up to 16 ppm. Its dual CIS sensor delivers 600 x 600 dpi optical resolution and handles media up to 8.5 x 72 inches. Wireless 802.11 b/g/n lets you send scans directly to network devices or cloud services without a host PC.
The unit runs from USB bus power or its internal lithium battery, drawing approximately 3.6 W over USB 3.0 and 4.4 W while scanning over Wi-Fi. Verify that your device provides a Micro USB 3.0 port or plan to use the battery for untethered operation. Supported systems include Windows 7, 8.1, 10 and Server 2012 through 2019, macOS 10.12 to 10.14, and Linux.
At 12.56 x 2.48 x 1.79 inches and 1.54 lbs, the scanner slides into a laptop bag and leaves room for other gear. It scans to file, image, OCR, email, cloud services or a Micro SD card, freeing you from a dedicated workstation. Included software such as Kofax Power PDF Standard and Brother iPrint & Scan handles capture and routing on both Windows and Mac.

The package includes the scanner, a Micro USB 3.0 cable, a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, a calibration sheet, a quick setup guide and the software disc — no extra cable or battery is required.
This single model supports both USB bus power and the included lithium-ion battery, so you can scan while plugged in or completely untethered without selecting a different SKU.
In duplex mode the scanner captures both sides in one pass at up to 16 pages per minute, so a 20-page double-sided document finishes in roughly one minute over the 802.11 b/g/n link.
