Compact wireless all-in-one for home offices

The Brother MFC-J491DW is a colour inkjet multi-function built for light-duty printing, scanning and copying. Wireless and USB interfaces let it sit on a desk or a shelf without a dedicated network cable. An automatic document feeder handles multi-page jobs while a 100-sheet tray holds letter or legal paper.

Quiet standby and modest power use

In normal daily use the printer idles silently and draws minimal power between jobs. The inkjet engine produces no fan noise during warm-up or short print runs. Standard-capacity LC3011 and high-yield LC3013 cartridges keep consumable cost predictable for typical household volumes.

Steady output for longer batches

When the automatic document feeder runs through a multi-page scan or a duplex print job the mechanism maintains consistent speed without pausing for thermal recovery. The 100-sheet tray feeds reliably across the full run so users do not need to reload paper mid-task.

Questions about this item

How do I install the MFC-J491DW and what step is often missed?

Connect the printer to your wireless network during the initial setup using the control panel; many users skip this and try printing via USB only, losing mobile and cloud features.

Which ink cartridges will I need to replace and what are their codes?

The printer uses LC3011 and LC3013 series cartridges in black, cyan, magenta and yellow; replace each colour individually when the display indicates low ink.

What limit appears first during heavy printing sessions?

The 100-sheet paper tray will need refilling before the automatic document feeder or ink tanks become the bottleneck during sustained use.
