Compact desktop label printer

The Brother QL-500 is a direct thermal desktop printer built for offices and workspaces that need fast, ink-free labels. It connects through a single USB port and draws power from a standard 120 VAC, 60 Hz supply. The unit ships with a power cord and is ready to integrate into existing shipping, filing or asset-tagging workflows.

2.44-inch width at 300 dpi resolution

Maximum label width reaches 2.44 inches, suited for address labels, barcodes and name badges. Print resolution of 300 dpi keeps text and linear barcodes sharp at the rated 4.33 inches per second black print speed. Direct thermal technology means no ribbons or toner cartridges to replace, but labels will darken over time if exposed to heat or prolonged sunlight.

USB-only connectivity for simple integration

A single USB interface handles both data and control, so no network configuration or driver-heavy setup is required on supported operating systems. The compact desktop footprint leaves bench space free for a label roll holder or a secondary printer. Buyers needing wireless printing, colour output or wider media formats will need a different device class.

Questions about this item

Will the USB interface on the QL-500 work with an older PC that only has USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the USB connection is backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports on older computers.

How can I verify the 300 dpi print resolution is working correctly after I set up the printer?

Print a test label; sharp, clear text and barcodes at the edges confirm the 300 dpi resolution is functioning.

Does the box include label rolls or do I need to buy Brother DK rolls separately for the 2.44 inch maximum width?

The box includes the printer and a power cord only; you must purchase compatible DK label rolls separately.
