Red laminated tape for P-Touch label makers

The Brother TC5001 is a red laminated tape cartridge designed for direct-thermal P-Touch label makers. It prints black text on a red background for high-visibility labels in low-light areas. The laminated surface resists moisture, abrasion and fading for durable indoor or outdoor use. Compatible models include PT10, PT12, PT12N, PT15, PT20, PT25, PT6, PT8, PT150, PT170K and PT-Gold.

Direct-thermal printing limits label life

Direct-thermal printing requires no ink or toner, but the image can darken when exposed to heat or prolonged sunlight. The tape width is 0.50 inches and each roll provides 25 feet of continuous label stock. Labels cannot be rewritten or erased once printed. The red background improves contrast in dim conditions but may not suit colour-coding schemes that require other hues.

Verify your model before ordering

Check that your label maker appears in the compatibility list above before purchasing. The cartridge fits only the listed P-Touch models and will not work with TZe, HGe or other tape systems. Ensure the machine accepts 0.50-inch wide tape and direct-thermal media. This product is not for users who need removable labels, multi-colour printing on a single label or thermal-transfer durability.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 12 mm red tape or another width for my PT20?

The TC5001 is the 12 mm red tape; other widths have different model numbers and will not share this MPN.

What does the 25 ft length mean when I start printing labels on my PT15?

You get a single continuous roll of 25 ft; each label you print consumes tape until the roll is exhausted.

How does the direct thermal printing work with the TC5001 on a PT12?

The printer heats the tape directly — no ribbon or ink cartridge is required.
